Alongside the artists who received the most nominations, some artists may have been snubbed from nominations. Hozier, Megan thee Stallion and Dua Lipa received no nominations, although their singles such as “Too Sweet” by Hozier topped the charts.
Shockingly, Ariana Grande did not receive a nomination for “We Can’t Be Friends (wait for your love)” in the Song of the Year category. However, she still has three nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Dance Pop Recording.
On the country side of things, the supposed “country album” by fan favorite Beyonce known as Cowboy Carter is nominated for Best Country Album, as well as “Texas Hold ‘Em” nominated for Best Country Song, and Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus.
She has numerous nominations, which leads to speculation around her credibility as a country artist. As a pop artist since her career started in the late 1900s, those roots are seen in her country album. This leads to questions about whether or not she is a member of the country community, or she is just popular and supposedly “deserving” of a Grammy.
Many of these categories are competitive, with no outstandingly popular artist leading any category. Especially in the big 4, each artist is increasingly popular, and this leads to limited predictability surrounding the awards.
