Ms. Cameron receives national recognition
This week, our very own teacher Ms. Tara Cameron was honored by the US. Department of Education for her duties as a teacher, during Teacher Appreciation Week.
As well as having a discussion with Department chair Miguel Cardona, Ms. Cameron met with 15 other teachers across the country who also made a impact on their community.
In this meeting, she and the other teachers discussed issues that needed to be addressed to the Department such as supplying teachers with better support in their classrooms as well as guidance in providing the best support to students struggling with mental health. Furthermore, the discussion lead to conversations such as what teaching has looked like since the pandemic and the future of teaching.
In her experience, Ms. Cameron said that Department Chair Cardona, was very personable which allowed her to feel comfortable and was helpful in propelling the conversation to feel casual yet productive.
Ms. Cameron also touched on her nomination process which involved the help of junior Vincent Coleman who nominated her to be a representative of the D.C area. Overall, this opportunity showcases the great impact that SJC teachers have on their students and why teachers should be held in high regard for their work.
