Best of the Decade: Artists

The following are the biggest artists of the 2010s in my opinion. I highly recommended listening to the songs I suggested from these artists because maybe they will have the same impact on you as they did on me.

5. Chainsmokers

I listed the Chainsmokers as my number 5 for my top music artists of the decade because I’ve always loved listening to their music and watching their music videos. “The Chainsmokers have become the kind of stars that will define a generation of music tastes” says Billboard. They are kind of like “ The Killers” but in my generation. Their music brings me to a state of peace and happiness. I remember listening to their music on summer nights and just being as happy as can be while staring up at the stars. Their peak in the music industry was around 2016. My favorite songs of theirs are “Roses”, “Closer”, and “Something Just Like This”.

4. Khalid

Khalid is my number 4 for my top music artists of the decade because his music is moving and inspiring. I listened to Khalid when I was in middle school mostly and his music basically told me to cherish the good times. His music speaks to teenagers and inspires them to enjoy every moment. My favorite songs of his are “Location”, “American Teen”, and “Saturday Nights”.

#3 Juice Wrld
I chose Juice Wrld as my number 3 for my top music artists of the decade because he has shaped my taste in music in my more recent years and got me to love the rap world. If you asked me to sing any song from his 4 albums, I could hit every line. I know his music like the back of my hand and could listen to it for days on end. My favorite songs of his are “Feelings”, “Legends”, and “Used To”.

2. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is listed as number 2 for my top music artists of the decade because of her unique character and influence on my childhood. Her songs reflect her emotions and passion for love. My favorite songs of hers are “Bad Romance”, “Shallow”, and “Born This Way”. She was the first artist that I saw wear such crazy outfits and actually rock them. Many artists to this day try to be like her, for example Sia.

1. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is listed as number 1 for my top music artists of the decade because her music and character had the biggest impact on me in the decade. I remember dancing around my room screaming the lyrics “She wears short skirts, I wear T-Shirts” and somehow relating to it as a 2nd grader. I listened to her music through my childhood and teenage years. I’ve been to four of her recent concerts and hope to go to the next ones. Her style and charisma is what I strive to have. Her music speaks to me and reminds me of good times. My favorite albums are “Fearless”, “Red”, and “1989”. I love most of all the songs on those albums and can’t pick a favorite. I highly recommended listening to the songs I suggested from these artists because maybe they will have the same impact on you as they did on me.
