Five places to eat before Homecoming
With Homecoming quickly approaching, many students want to know where to go to get some food before the dance. Most go somewhere around the school, but there are lots of affordable, but still nice, options around the city and Bethesda. Whether you’re more of an IHOP or a Cheesecake Factory person, there is something for you!
Clyde’s
Clyde’s is a moderately priced chain restaurant that is nice, but still fits the budget of a high school student. They are known for their great burgers and fun experience. The one located in Chevy Chase is a few minutes away from school and definitely worth it – they have great, tasty food, and it’s not too fancy while still being nicer than your average burger chain.
Maggiano’s Little Italy
Maggiano’s is a higher-priced Italian restaurant located right in Friendship Heights, a five to 10-minute drive from St. John’s. Their food is fantastic and their service is great, too – they take reservations and are ok with large groups of teenagers. Their steak is very good, as are their pasta and Parmesan chicken, but their pizza is great as well if you’re looking for something a little more casual.
IHOP
IHOP is a nationwide chain restaurant that serves breakfast all day long, and it is a fun and casual place to go if you’re looking for a low stress and low maintenance dinner. They have everything, from pancakes to burgers to ice cream sundaes, and it’s all very well priced and filling. The nearest IHOP is located in Silver Spring, MD, but it is only a 15-minute drive from St John’s and a great place to go if you just want a fun and casual dinner.
Cafe Deluxe
Cafe Deluxe is another restaurant that is known for its fun atmosphere and great food. Located in Tenleytown, it’s been around for a long time and is similar to Clyde’s. The American-style food and moderate prices make it a great place to go for a pre-Homecoming dinner that is not too fancy, but still notably nice. They’re known for their brunch, but it’s also a great dinner place.
The Cheesecake Factory
The Cheesecake Factory is a well-known chain that serves a wide variety of food, but is especially known for their cheesecake (hence the name). The food is a little bit pricier, but it’s super conveniently located right in Friendship Heights. Their cheesecake is fantastic, and there are so many to choose from – there’s even a gluten-free option. They don’t take reservations, so you may want to call ahead and ask about availability, but if you’re looking for an easy place to go, the Cheesecake Factory is a good one.
