Game Preview: SJC vs. Good Counsel
Today, our defending WCAC champions, the SJC girls’ varsity soccer team, will take on the Good Counsel Falcons. The Cadets, who are ranked #1 in the WCAC, will travel to the #2 Falcons’ field to play under the lights at 5:45 pm.
This is one of the biggest match-ups in the entire WCAC community and the biggest game of the season for both teams. The Sabre caught up with senior captains Maliah Morris, Clemson commit, Gabby Nastasi, Morehead State commit, and Meghan O’Donovan, Syracuse commit, to preview the game.
How is the varsity team preparing for this game?
O’Donovan: We are staying focused and working hard. We had few people scout GC, and we kind of know how they play, but it will be interesting to see how the game pans out this year.
How is your mindset going into the biggest game of the season?
Morris: My mindset is positive and aggressive. I’m super excited and a little bit nervous. We have a new team, but we are coming together at practice and we are ready to take them on and beat them.
How will the results of the game affect your ranking in the WCAC and nationally?
Nastasi: If we win, which I’m hoping we do, it’ll help us keep our spot on top and will help us nationally. Along with adding another win to our record, which will make it 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the WCAC.
