Homecoming must knows

Homecoming must knows

As October rolls around, there’s a word that’s being mentioned more often these days: homecoming. The stress of the dates, outfits, tickets, and much more is occupying us at SJC because it’s here. Wondering what to look forward to and how it’ll be different from last year? Some members of SGA and St. Johns have the answers to all of your questions.

1. Music
This year, the music is going to be better. London Wright-Porch ‘25 says that the DJ will be the same as last year, but there will be an online form sent out to the school to recommend songs for a playlist.

2. Royalty
Votes for homecoming court are coming out this Friday. Do you know who you’re going to vote for? Overall, the voting system and candidate options are going to be the same as last year.

3. Theme
Last year’s A Night in Paris did not receive a great response from the SJC cadets. Christian Larson ’26 says the theme will allow students to have a “transformative experience where one could picture themself in.”

4. Changes from last year
There will definitely be attempts to make this year’s homecoming different than last year’s. Christian says it is going to be “curated and wanted by the student body.” London says “everyone in SGA has been listening to suggestions about the decorations and overall atmosphere so people should find it more enjoyable.”

5. Safety measures
Safety measures this year are going to be the same as last year. Christian says there will be an atmosphere where students can feel safe while dancing, interacting, and having fun.

As the countdown to homecoming continues, anticipation is running high, and excitement is in the air. As the date approaches, it’s clear that homecoming this year at SJC is for sure going to be a night of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories. So mark your calendars and get ready to make this homecoming an event to remember.
