How SJC has changed learning during snow days

The last time we have been projected this much snow was in 2016 when we saw “snowzilla”. A lot has happened since then, especially the expectations of what to do when we are out for an elongated time.

As of writing this, we are projected 12-14 inches of snow and 0.85 inches of a wintry mix. This would result in a foot of snow and almost an inch of wet and slippery ice which would possibly result in almost a week of school off!

Mr. Salkeld said that he did not think that they gave homework out on their week off from school. He said that the biggest difference in work during snow days since 2016 has been the expectations on asynchronous learning.

Mr. Salkeld emphasized how since Covid there has been lots of new technology and tools with online school and more work you can do from home. This has led us to being able to do work and not be as far behind when we have snow days.

“Snowzilla” gave us six days off from school and was only around three to five inches more so expect to be doing online school by Wednesday but in the meantime you should enjoy the snow and your break.
