Places to Get Prom Dresses That Aren’t Lulus!
Are you a second-semester senior? Are you slowly getting infected by senioritis? Looking for a way to procrastinate even more than you are right now?
I don’t know about you, but I have been shopping for prom dresses. Is prom three months away? Yes. However, I am trying to find a dress that isn’t from Lulus. Lulus is an online clothing store known for their affordable and fashionable formal dresses. It is a popular site for obvious reasons, but this also means that their shoppers might experience delays, stock shortages (especially during prom season), or end up wearing the same dress as three other girls.
Disclaimer: There’s nothing wrong with multiple people wearing the same dress, but each person should feel beautifully unique on their prom day!
Here are some places to get prom dresses that aren’t Lulus!
HelloMolly
Originating from Australia, this online boutique sells bold and trendy clothing that doesn’t break the bank. Their dress sizes range from XS-L and are mostly priced under $100. They do offer student discounts, and shipping is free for orders over $100. Returns are free within 30 days on full-priced items only. This gorgeous v-neck bodice dress has mesh detailing and is sold for $96.

Alamour the Label
If you’re planning to look and feel like a princess for prom, this is the store for you. All their dresses have a classic, luxurious aesthetic, with dress styles ranging from form-fitting mermaid dresses to long-tailed ball gowns. They definitely are on the expensive side, but their pieces are so gorgeous that it could be hard to resist. Their dress sizes range from XXS-L and are priced around $100-$300, depending on the style you choose. Shipping is free for orders over $250. They accept returns for in-store credit, but do not provide refunds. This stunning light blue dress would look amazing in pictures, especially during the springtime, and is sold for $263.99.
Windsor
Probably the second-most popular prom dress site behind Lulus, Windsor is also known for their affordable and cute prom dresses! They have a luxurious feel to them and a bigger selection of ball gowns rather than mermaid dresses compared to Lulus. Their sizes range from XS-XL and are priced from $65-$175. Shipping costs range from $6-$24, depending on how fast you want your items to arrive. This elegant, silver gown is perfect for anyone who wants to be glowing on their prom night and is sold for $109.90.
Rent the Runway
Probably not going to wear your prom dress again after May 29? Rent the Runway is perfect for you! It’s more environmentally-friendly than buying a dress you will only wear once and is sometimes more affordable. They have a wide selection of designer and non-designer dresses and other pieces. Their rentals last typically four to eight days and are priced from $40-$200, depending on the style you get. There is a retail location in Georgetown, which isn’t too far from St. John’s. This simple-yet-striking tiered mermaid dress is perfect for anyone who loves bold colors, but does not want to be too flashy for prom. Its material and design would be super flattering on anyone, and it is priced between $40-$70.

Just remember that your dress does not predict how good or bad your prom experience will be, but I hope you find something that you feel comfortable and confident wearing, because you deserve it! Treat yourself for your past four years of working hard in high school, and I wish you a happy prom season. Good luck!
