SJC sophomore nominated for Congress of Future Medical Leaders

Jais Kirkman ‘23 was recently selected to participate in the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, an honors program that is mentored by many great leaders in the medical field. He will be inducted on March 20 and 21.

The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the country interested in these careers, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal.

At the conference, Kirkman said he will be talking with medical professionals who have attended Ivy League schools and participating in activities like watching a live surgery, learning about new technology, and talking with winners of the Nobel Prize.

The impressive program is an accomplishment for Kirkman, but he has even grander future plans. 

“In college I plan on attending a military academy where I will study in the field of genetics,” he said.

Being chosen for the program means a lot to Kirkman, “I think it is the perfect opportunity to explore different careers in the medical field…I am very grateful and passionate because I want to make my family proud and set a great example for the future generations to come not only in my family, but in general,” Kirkman said.
