Last night on ESPN Scott Van Pelt, famous sports talk show host, did a segment on SJC men’s basketball and Pat Behan.

In his segment, Van Pelt praises WCAC athletics and its level of competition that St. John’s had to beat to win the championship.

To reach the championship game in the WCAC mens basketball tournament, PVI beat DeMatha by two points and SJC beat Gonzaga by one point. During the championship game, “St. John’s swept past PVI…by two. That means the final three games were decided by a total of just five points,” Van Pelt said in the story.

They did this for their coach, Pat Behan. During the games this year, players and coaches wore Behan Strong shirts to show their support for their head coach.

Behan was diagnosed with ALS, and he is the tenth family member to contract the disease. The
foundation Behan Strong was created to support him and raise money to pay for his treatment of the
disease. There is a fundraiser March 16 called Party at Pat’s to raise awareness and gain funding for Pat
Behan. The Cadets have not won a mens basketball championship in six years, and it is incredible that
they were able to win in this tough league for their coach.
