Tomdaya Engaged!
What a way to ring in the new year! On January 5 Zendaya walked the carpet at the Golden Globes wearing a large Jessica McCormack ring on her left hand. After an outfit change where all her jewelry changed except the ring, it was obvious to all that the she was engaged. Zendaya was also seen during the event showing off her hand to friends, showing jazz fingers in a very “bride-to-be” fashion. What really solidified the news was when a recently engaged reporter for the Los Angeles Times showed off her ring to Zendaya and the actress then flashed her own ring. This news has been a long time coming, eight years to be exact, but the two decided to playp it long, and it paid off.
There was a lot of speculation about the ring at The Golden Globes and it only picked up when Zendaya wore the ring again at a Challengers Q&A event the next day. Even with all the talk, the pair never confirmed anything officially, so it was all just that- talk. However, days later Tom’s dad, Dominic Holland, confirmed everyone’s hopes in a post stating “he [Tom ] had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her [Zendaya’s] father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.” If we weren’t already obsessed and ecstatic for the couple, hearing how special Tom wanted it to be for Zendaya is a testament to how much he cares for her and only makes us fall more in love with them.
The couple began their journey when they were cast to play Peter Parker and MJ in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. Rumors were flying everywhere that the two took their characters love story off screen, but they denied all the gossip while on their press tour. This was hard for fans to believe because the chemistry they shared was obviously not just on screen, but when they were both seen with other partners we had to swallow the pill that two weren’t together. However, after they had officially shut down all rumors of them being together, in July 2021 the paparazzi captured pictures of the two kissing at a red light which led to their fanbase to lose their minds. These pictures were monumental and brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the weight of what this meant. Only two months later Tom made their relationship officially public confirming the whispers with a post as he shared a heartwarming picture of the two on set of Spider-Man and a caption that created the perfect hard launch.
The couple has been a fan favorite for quite some time, and their engagement is like a second Royal Wedding for the world. The two are one of a kind and have become more than just another Hollywood couple, they are are adored worldly.
