The three Halloween movies you need to watch

It’s that time of year again where you have an excuse to binge watch all your favorite spooky Halloween movies, and grub down on the best sweets. Whether it’s spooky thrills that give you goosebumps or major plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat, these movies will get you in the Halloween spirit. We’ve come up with the top 3 humorous, yet haunting Halloween films worth watching.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Hocus Pocus takes place in the small town of Salem where Max Dennison (Omri Katz) recently just moved. Max, his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend Allison (Vinessa Shaw) explore an abandoned house, where Max accidentally freed a coven of witches. The Sanderson sisters: Winifred (Bette Midler), Mary (Kathy Najimy) and Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) begin to torment the kids. With the help of a magical cat, the kids try to steal the witches book of spells to save them from becoming immortal. This film is a family friendly movie with humor, yet spooky enough to keep you in suspense. I highly recommend watching this movie this Halloween season.

Halloween Town (1998)

Marnie ( Kimberly J. Brown), Dylan (Joey Zimmerman), and Sophie (Emily Roeske) follow their grandmother (Debbie Reynolds) on a Halloween night to a place not so familiar, Halloween Town. It’s a place where witches, goblins, and scary creatures live in harmony and can be seen as “normal”. Marnie soon finds out a secret about her family and herself. Marnie and her family have to fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world. Halloween Town has many twists and turns and keeps you on your toes. It’s a Disney Halloween classic you need to watch!

Beetlejuice (1988)

After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck in their house, only able to haunt the residents out. They don’t succeed in scaring the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and their teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) out of their house. They ask for “help” from Beetlejuice, who is a boisterous spirit, whose help only puts the Maitlands and innocent Lydia in danger. Beetlejuice’s wit and charisma is what makes this movie  five stars and one that you need to watch!
